1911 Census at Kew

Please could someone confirm for me that the original page on the 1911 census is free to view at Kew and if you want to print the page the charge is 20 pence.

I think its free to view a scan of it on the computers at Kew, not literally the orginal, I guess you meant the scan.

Remember someone saying a printouts 20p

I think you also only get an hour at a time on the computer then have to come off and book another slot, so depending how busy it is your viewing time maybe limited

This is the best bit of info about it I can find online, as the national archives link to the 1911 findmypast site and they don't seem to want to point out it can be accessed for free

You can view the 1991 census for free at Kew


Or if you live in one of these areas you can access for free at one of the instututions mentioned, but check before you go not all are yet available.

Birmingham Archives & Heritage
Devon Record Office (Exeter)
The National Library of Wales (Aberystwyth)
Manchester Archives and Local Studies and Greater Manchester County Record Office
Norfolk Record Office
Nottinghamshire Archives/Central library
Tyne and Wear Archives
I believe limited to half hour sessions

The 1911 is now available on all computers at Kew and you are no longer limited to an hour at a time or have to pre-book.

Yes, print outs are 20p each (printed on A3)

I can only speak for the ones in Nottingham, they are limited to half hour sessions and you have to book a time.

Printing is 20p
