Have you had a look at the actual image? It may be someone has added dittos where they shouldnt be - simple as that. OR may be they decided to take on the girl as their own. I dont spose you will ever know Im afraid.

I had a family recently, called Hart, mum, dad and daughter all Hart but some bright transcriber gave the son the surname Hard. Simple human error.

The 1891 census gives the girls with their original surname (Haste) sub the 1901 lists the younger girl as having the new surname of Hire.
Just wondered why this would happen, when at the time they only had two other children?????

Well, it was pretty common for overcrowded households to farm out kids to relatives.

Did the aunt/uncle have kids of their own? It may just be the census enumerator assumed the girls were theres and gave them the same surname. I dont think you will get a definitive answer. Did the girl keep the surname for the rest of her (unmarried) life?

I wonder if anyone can shed some light on this???

I have found that my great-great grandparents had 11 children, on checking the census around the time of the births I have noticed that two girls have left the household and gone to live with an Aunt, the younger of the two girls takes on the family name of the Aunt and her husband. The girls were born in 1881 and 1885.
What explanation do you think there could be for this happening?

Some expert advice is needed.
Thanks, Karen
