Friday Street and St John's Street still exist in Leicester
if you go to www.streetmap.co.uk you will be able to see where they are, property websites such as www.rightmove.co.uk may have houses for sale on those streets with pictures so you could see if the area has changed, bear in mind Leicester was probably bombed during WW2 so much of the original housing may have gone, or it may have been demolished to make way for new houses

Thank you, i was given my family tree in paper form last week, its very detailed up to the 1900 when the Coxes all started to move from normanton on soar, and since then i have been filling in the blanks, its very addictive.. but struggling since and i would love to find some living coxes i knew nothing about..
another cox who i have traced to london his John William married to Mary Ethel Sharp in 1899 in Leicester who seems to have been born in st pancras, with his dad George , not sure why they moved there, came back but i think moved back again, have a son Harold Cox.. thank you

this looks like the McCarthy family in 1911, you will need to pay to view the transcript / see the original at www.1911census.co.uk to get more info

HOUSEHOLD MCCARTHY BERNARD M 1876 35 Leicester Leicestershire
HOUSEHOLD MCCARTHY MINNIE F 1876 35 Leicester Leicestershire

I have had a look on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website (CWGC) but can't find a likely death in WW1 for Bernard.

AHA - just found this possible marriage record, so his first name may not have been Bernard ...

I am trying to find the link to Eunice iliffe who Married George Cox ( born 1843) on the 7th nov 1868 in London, i have scanned the marriage records . but cannot seem to find her name at all.. my family is a cox line from normanton on soar, any other details regarding them after the 1900s would be great as well..
