I have Ancestry and have been trying to find any records on a Thomas Davy (born c 1830 N/Yorkshire ) who is in the Army serving in the Tower of London at the 1871 census

My attemps just seem to bring up the records for the two world wars-what am I not doing ? !!

What makes you think that there are other records?

They don't have any Army records earlier than WW1 on Ancestry but worth a look as some went on to serve in WW1. There are no early Army records on documentsonline either. His records if they have survived will be at the National Archives. They aren't online though - you would have to go there or get someone to go for you.

Ahhhh......that explains why I could not find them-for some reason I thought they had more than the two word wars !
