You can search Ancestry even without a sub - suppose I wanted Windsor + Spencer kids
There's 3 hits in Greater London, but the last 2 refer to the same event

The first is a 1982q3 rego.

Click on (or hover over) Henry's shopping basket - one sees the rego ref details:
Sep1984 Westminster 15 2545

I could search for Henry Windsor, or Henry with mum's MS=spencer and get the same hits, maybe with extra hits.
If all I knew was his name, then the order form doesn't show the mum's MS, and the only way to get it would be to consult copy of the GRO-index, either via a library that has it (or Ancestry) or at a rego office.

Ancestry have records up to 2005 at present. They offer a 14 day free trial which might be worth looking at.
