Can anyone tell me where to look to find out about soldiers serving in the Boer War? My great-gramdfather undoubtedly fought in this war but so far I have drawn a blank other than knowing he was in the 2nd Manchester regiment.

His records might be on Ancestry if he went on to serve in WW1. Otherwise they will be at the National Archives if they have survived.

The GRO have a war register of Boer War deaths, but I don't know where it's indexed (in case you wanted to buy a d.cert and avoid the search fee).

(Actually, this is the Scottish Boer War register, but the English one looks pretty much the same.)
