Marriage Certificate Help

I am trying to find out more details of a relative born before Civil Registration, in 1832. Would a Marriage Certificate for 1855 give Father's Name and Occupation? I have never ordered one this old before?

If not, can anyone suggest any other records I could try for 1832.

Any help would be appreciated.

You could try familysearch for a baptism.

Have you found the family on the 1841/51 census?

Thanks for all the replies.

ChristineinPortugal : I have looked on the http://www.familysearch.org website but there are a few with the same name, in the same area, for the same time frame. He appears on the 1861 Census but without any family connection I cannot tie him in to any one of 3 families in the same area for the 1841/51 Census.

The only thing that I can think of to do is to get a copy of the Birth Certificate to find out his Father's name. As I said in my original post, I haven't ordered such an old Marriage Certificate before and I wanted to check that the really old ones have Father's details on them.

Thanks for all your help.
