I am having probs with updating to the website, so may I ask if anyone has transferred FTM2005 to Tribalpages. I find TP excellent for my other smaller trees. Any help gratefully received, Derek in France

Just create a gedcom from FTM and then upload to TP.

OK Hawkwind, you make that sound so easy in just a few words and I thank you, but how?? I cannot find the word Gedcom to start with, thanks, Derek

Not quite right MGHS.

Go to file (top left corner) look for import/export file and click on it, then click on Entire File, a new window will open, select Desktop from the drop down menu in the Save in field, in the Save as File Type field select Gedcom (*.ged) from the drop down menu.

Another window will open, change nothing here just click on ok or save.

Your gedcom file is now saved and you can see it on your desktop.

Thanks Ron,

I've never known exactly how to do that and with your instructions have just done it. I've got a little icon on my desktop. Does this mean I can email this to a family member if I want to (as long as they have a family tree program)?

Yes that is correct Kathleen, attach it to the e-mail and away it goes.

Well folks, I do thank you, I will try this over the w/e. There are quite a number of photos stored on my FTM2005, will they transfer as well?
And you young Ron, thanks for being there. Derek

Derek, if you save as a Gedcom file to upload on TP, the photos will not transfer, Gedcom is purely a text file with no ability to transfer photos etc.
