Latin for ; son of nobody; has anyone had this on fathers name on any certificates ?

No I haven't come across this...yet. How sad to have this on your certificate, son of nobody, the poor child sounds so unloved and unwanted.

I've never come across it before. He must've been a foundling.

I looked it up:

nullius filius
noun
(context, Latinate) A child of unknown parentage; an orphan.
: The son of no one; a bastard. A bastard is considered nullius filius as far as regards his right inherit. But the rule of nullius filius does not apply in other respects. - Bouvier Law Dictionary 6th edition, 1856.
Etymology: Latin; 'nullius filius' literally "nobody's son".


So sad.

thanks all. poor sole must have been disowned so wont be able to go back on that side of family, so sad ....

Id like to think maybe his father was wealthy and he didn't want a fling to show years later. I can dream..............

maybe he stated it himself, but he is long gone and I will never know. thanks to you all.
