Hi Margaret,
Don't think we have anything like that over here - probably a bit too technical!!!!

We have a reverse phone number look-up here in Canada. Just type in the number and you get the name and address. Very handy!

I'm pretty sure that's a local Manchester area number. You could try it anyway. There's also 192.com which is free to search online, or even try Ask.com

Hi,
If the number starts with either 0845/0844/0870 try going onto the www.saynoto0870.com website, and type in the number you have. If its a company it will usually give you information about the location etc, & alternative local numbers, or if they're no longer in use.
Good Luck.

You could put the number into a Google search.
That might give an area or the firm's name.

Hi,
The problem is I don't know the name of the company I only have the telephone number. I am trying to find out what sort of company she works for then perhaps I can ring those in that area. Bit long winded but I had hoped for an easier option.

The dialing code will give you the geographical location. If its a company number it may have changed or they may have moved either way if you google their company name (assuming you know it) you should find something

I know this is a daft question but does anyone know how I can trace where someone is through a telephone number? I was given the number of a distant relative but all I get is a discontinued signal. I've been assured that the number was correct until recently. I asked BT but they couldn't help me. It's supposed to be her work number so unless the firm's gone bust I cant see why I cant trace it. Any ideas?
