I have to say what a beautifully set out site, easy on the eye and user friendly,

I spent a good while just browsing and noticed the high number of infant deaths,

Our 1911 could take a lesson from the Irish census, which seems very clumsy by comparison.

Just a had a good look on this site and you can view the full census return,

You can search by name and/or townland.

There are a few problems tho, my townland is mispelled so at first I couldnt find it. Once I did I found 3 townlands in my area mispelled...................not good if you are searching by townland.

BUT, at long last there is something online!! Saves me a trip to the library!!

The 1911 Irish census is now online at:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/

It seems like an individual's entire details have not been fully transcribed
(sort of like English Ancestry excl 1881), since they say:

By end-September, we will be re-developing the site to include full transcription of all of the data on the household forms for 1911, including religion, occupation, relationship to head of family, literacy status, marital status, county or country of origin, Irish language proficiency, specified illnesses, and child survival information.

1901 Census material, with all data transcribed, will be launched between late 2009 and early 2010.
