Is there any way of finding any person in the Bedford Union Workhouse in 1861? I need to read the list of inmates - looking for Mary Osbourn b 1775 but she seems to have been mis-transcribed....

Sylvia she was taken from there to her funeral in 1862 - there was also a newspaper article at the time.

Eric - that's isn't her - she died 1862

She was b Mary Elderkin, married Richard Green who died 1812, then remarried John Osborn in 1815

She died 9 10 1862 in Bedford

I have her in 1841 and 1851 but need to look at 1861 to doublecheck place of birth. The only way to do that is fine someone else in the Workhouse so I can find the correct page....

when did John Osborn die??

Because she died in the Workhouse, doesn't meant that she was living there 18 months earlier.

She could have been taken either to the Workhouse OR to the infirmary part of the workhouse just before she died.

I need to check the workhouse - question is - how do I find it.....?

OK The bedford Union workhouse is missing off Ancestry. It should come under St Peters District but it appears to be missing. (My guess it is the district 7 which isn't showing)

If it isn't available on find my past head for the archives
