Kevin Michael Keating - finding his birth 1923

Hi everyone,

I obtained a death certificate for a relative and this person was the informant - stepson, the dead person had no children from first marriage and I want to see if the stepchildren inherited any photos etc.

I have found a death for him as 1996 in Camden London, birth 21 Dec 1923 but cannot find the record itself (I wondered if he had any siblings) or his parents marriage of Catherine Cassidy to a Mr Keating.

I thought the marriage and Kevin's birth could have taken place in say Ireland. If I get the death certificate for Kevin I know it will give his dob but will it give me details of where he was born.

Thanks to everyone for all your help.

There are several marriages for Kevin M Leach's on ancestry so he in turn may have had children.

The most likely marriage took place in Edmonton, North London in 1st qtr 1954 to Pamela Leach.

Kevin and Pamela had 2 sons who you may be able to contact. Brian A born 1954 and Kevin M born 1957.

Theres someone on records office doing electoral roll look ups.

Good luck.

Hello Lesley,
I have some death certs where death occurred at hospital where date and place of birth is recorded on the certificate. Again, it is only as good as the informants memory or their knowledge of the deceased.

Hi Mummy Bear,

Thanks for the information on birth of Kevin and marriage of Kate and Michael Keating. Could you do me another favour and see if Kevin had any likely brothers or sisters.

Thanks to everyone else, I had found the details of Kevin's marriage and children (I may send for the certificates) but in case I cannot find where they are living now I was hoping for another person to trace.

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start
click on Europe and scroll down for Ireland 1845-1958

You can get Irish Certs from:
Civil Registration Office
Office of the Registrar General
Roscommon
Ireland
Tel: +353 (0) 90 6632900
fax: +353 (0) 90 6632999

You need the persons name as per the family search site, district ie Cork plus the volume number and the page
They don't take orders over the phone - I send a fax with my ccard details.
The cost is €4 for a photocopy of the certificate.

Looking for sibling is difficult as mothers maiden name is not listed like in England.

If you have Kevins children etc have you tried the electoral roll - someone on here or records office is offering lookups.
Good luck in your search

I would start with his death certificate.
This should give you a birth place and it's likely that a family member was the informant.
At the least, you would have a home address which you could check in electoral lists to see whether other Keatings were living there.... You could then check those people in current lists.
