I've been on Scotlands People and have ordered birth and marriage certs.
Have also seen birth cert. of a great-grandfather (I think) So thanks loads for the info.

It's worth putting your tree on here as people link in.

My husband's is scottish and I have had some good connections from this site, but recommend scotlands people for your look ups and certs.
They are very good much better than the english certs they give loads of info. Dont dismiss the death certs either as they give parents details unlike the English ones.

Also, lots of records, free, on familysearch. Cenus transcriptions (but no images) on Ancestry.

If you use Scotlandspeople, you can download images of certs and parish records. It isn't free, but the certs give you much more info than English ones. Eg, birth certs also give date and place of parents' marriage.
