You will find the CEF attestation papers for James Sussex on the following website...free to search.

You will be able to order his service records from the website...the most I have paid is £20 but well worth it for the invaluable information it gives...

you can also find James and elizabeth on the 1911 census which is free to search

and I came across this which shows after being in the Devonshire regiment { Medal Card} he signed up with Canadian forces. which might account for the gap detween the 2 children

And if he was born in September, he could've been registered in the December quarter.

there is one other child

I'm not sure where you are looking, this is from FreeBMD, you take this information to GRO.gov.uk and order it online, the certificate costs £7 and normally arrives by post in a week.

You will quite often find that the birth date on a death reg is not always exact.

Hi, I`m new to creating my family tree & have already got myself puzzled so would appreciate any help anyone can offer me please.

My Grandad is Wilfred James Sussex . I know he died Jan 1991 in Manchester & have viewed his Death Record which gives a DOB of 11SEP1917. Before I order a Birth Certificate I have tried to view his Birth Registery Records so I can obtain his Mothers Maiden name & District born but when I view the document (there is only one option available for Sep 1917) I can`t see him on the document - if anyone could point in the right direction I would be very grateful I guess I`ve gone wrong somewhere along the way. Many thanks.
