Hi Jonesey,

Well however it was is definitely in an elite class as it only lists 3 Glenny people, unfortunately they look like they are all in England or Australia.

But Thanks for the suggestion.

Regards
Rachael

Hi George, SJR
This where the problem starts all I know is the surname which is Glenny. I was hoping to try and find an alternative route to finding out about Thomas Glenny born 1845 in Sligo, Ireland. I can find no record for his birth there.
Family rumor has it the Glenny s came from Scotland but were told to leave and move to Ireland after one of them committed Murder.

My hope was that I could search through conviction records for Scotland prior to 1830 for the name Glenny and conviction for Murder and see if I could turn anything up.

Does that make sense to you both? Do you think I am insane for taking this route?

Depends on the timescale you are researching

There are criminal registers on Ancestry but just for the years 1791 to 1892.but not for Scotland

I think for the years after this these records are closed and are not online or viewable.

Someone will correct me if i am wrong about this.
