Deaths 1984-2005 are fully transcribed and searchable on Ancestry

Deaths are pretty complete thru 1935 on FreeBMD - there are 59 (of 394) incomplete quarters, but 29 of these have 96+% coverage.

When were the relatives last located on the census? When did they go missing? Any deaths in the area after the last census sighting?

These are all pointers to where/when to find the deaths. Other than that, you have to go by ages and "Educated guess" to try and find the correct one.

I'm afraid that untill the deaths have been transcribed it means trawling through every quarter on Ancestry till you find what you want. Narrow down by looking at last child born or if alive on children's marriage certs.

It is possible but you may have to search 20-30 yrs (80-120 quarters)

Up to about 1930 are on FreeBMD and then from1984 are transcibed on Ancestry. The ones in the middle not been done yet, so you have to look at the image.

I have several relatives for whom I have birth and marriage certificates, but no death certificates or dates.

I have access to BMD register but don't know how to locate the entries without knowing the year of death.

Any advice?
