Thanks for the info Ozi. Can you recommend a good site to garner more of this kind of info as I have a large scottish contingent to my family and am likely to have more queries in a similar vein.

Great Hamilton Street became London Road, SE

Also found on another website - Great Hamilton Street, Calton -
Great Hamilton Street is now part of the London Road. If you have a map of modern Glasgow find Glasgow Cross, it lies in the centre of the city and is the junction of High Street on the north, Saltmarket running south to the river, Argyle street and Trongate to the west and Gallowgate and London Road to the east. Follow the London Road eastwards to Ross Street (about 1/2 a mile) and that was the beginning of Great Hamilton Street.
