You should buy that birth certificate ..... that will tell you her mother's name, her father's name (if she was not illegitimate), and her mother's maiden name.

Go to www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

and follow instructions for Ordering Ceritficates.

it will ask if you ahve the GRO reference number .... andswer YES (the GRO number is that set of 2 numbers at the end ...... 1d 326)

Each certificate will cost £7

yes thats her marrage. bit worried about ordering a birth certificate as usually i can't make the writing out anyway due to the photocoping or actual handwriting previosly i've just had to guess . i see there are many variants on her name but all spelt similar so not sure if i could tell diffrence on a certificate of that age.

I think you have to order that cert or you wont get any further confidently in your research.

If you cant read it, you can always scan it to someone on here to read it for you.

Actually, if you go to freebmd.org and enter the name and tick phonetic variations, theres an awful lot of Gallifants, Gallifents and so on - Im sure all variations and very possibly of French origin.

This marriage looks interesting:
