The actual tree program is the same, irrespective of whether you order the standard, deluxe, premium, super deluxe or whatever, so don't be conned into thinking you are getting additional functionality, you are not.

The difference between the various packages is in the extras which are bundled with it, some more useful than others. An ancestry subscription may be worth looking at, if you are in the market for one.

& thanks everyone I will go for it as it sounds just the thing. The standard version will probably be the one I go for, nice to hear about the Tesco vouchers as I have £12.00 quids worth.

Try twr computing, they are always very reasonable and helpful.

or If you have any tesco vouchers you can get the FTM2009 plus 6 months sub to ancestry for £15 of vouchers

Keith, dont bother with the deluxe version, the standard one is fine.

On the flip side - I had no problems. It loaded easily and I'm not terribly computer literate and I manage to navigate my way round it easily. I've attached census returns, photos and scanned newspaper articles and attached them to the profiles of my family.

Honestly. No. i didnt get on with it but there may be others that had better luck.

I was thinking of purchasing The family tree Maker delux version. can anyone recommend it ? I have never used any kind of software before so I need something straight forward & easy to use.
