Are you sure? I'm sure I registered on curious fox ages ago and I don't remember a sub - could be wrong though!

HI Jan Thanks I'll delete one
that's my problem.I can find my gr gr grandfather back to Dubuque Iowa but not in England where he was suposed to be born.Story is he grew up on Uplands farm in Surrey (which I found ) then went to Dorking to apprentice as a baker.So tha't's what I'm trying to find.All census I have found list him as born in England BUT his son born in Dubuque Iowa list origin as Scotland.So I'm confused

In the meantime, what sort of info do you need? You can find out all the usual stuff through BMD and census reports, which will give his occupation and an indication of when he started and finished his training.
