Marriage witness ages

Can anyone please tell me if a 14 year old could sign as a witness on a marriage in 1901? |

I would imagine that it would be permitted. I do not think there is technically a minimum age for a witness. In 1901 it was legal for a girl to marry at age 12, and a boy at age 14, so I can see no reason why there should be any objection to a 14 year old witness. Most 14 year olds (unless they came from middle or upper class families) would be going out to work by that age. |

It would be logical - I think you can be a godparent at 14, so I suppose you could be a marriage witness at that age too. (Think the youngest witness I've spotted so far was 17.) |
