Does anywhere know of a site that will tell you whether a road is on an old map before you buy it ? or even to view for free

I am looking for Wycliffe Road Stratford London which I don't think exists any more but would have been near Temple Mills Lane.

thanks

thanks for googling, most of them just have the area rather than the detailed roads

I will keep looking

On 1904 death cert of gt grandmother and 1901 census, 1908 not too far out, perhaps it was was a very small road

I have now found Wycliffe Road on the following link. Once the map has downloaded, click on the map again for a much larger and detailed image. Wycliff Road appears to have been where Clays Lane is today.

It is as you say off Temple Mills Lane.

I would recommend you look at Alan Godfey's site.

I have ordered several of his maps which go down to street level . Most are for just after 1900.
