Birth of a child before Marriage

Could someone tell me please if a child was born out of wedlock around 1850s would the couple be allowed to marry in the parish Church

Oh, I'm sure they would be allowed to marry in the parish church. If not, I think a lot of my ancestors would never have married.

Yes, they would. Lots of my ancestors had children before marriage and then went on to marry in church.

The birth will probably be registered in mother's maiden name.

My great great grandparents had two children before they married. On the birth certs. the children were registered in their father's name, and the mother gave her surname as that of her "husband" nee "maiden name".
