Don't forget to try googling Pier 21. This is the name of the embarkation pier in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where the vast majority of immigrants to Canada would have landed if they arrived by ship. There is a lot of very interesting information to be found, some of it of a general social history nature but nonetheless fascinating to read.

familysearch.org have a lot of canadian records and they are free to search

on the main search page click pilot search on the drop down search bar


also

canada collections has a few but not many


canada have a 50year rule on releasing records and it differs by provence as to what is available ontario has a lot on records


if you get stuck let me know i have access to worldwide ancestry and may be able to help

There are some Ontario vital statistics here, but nothing very recent. It's very hard to access any recent records in Canada.

does anone know of any canadaian websites to trace family i am finding it very difficult to find any thanks isabel
