Pamela so sorry to hear of your Mum's death. Do you have a copy of your parents marriage certificate - the area they married might give a clue to where your Dad lived before he married your mum, if you have his raf number or his navy number you may be able to write and get some information - if he divorced his first wife you may be able to get a copy of the divorce papers, if she died it would say your Dad was a widower on the marriage certificate to your mum. Good luck Irene

Pamela, you have made no comment re. the above birth. It's a tricky one, and a bit of a long shot, but if you get the cert you will know if it is him as you have his exact date of birth. This will give his mother's name.

it's possible my mother was still married to my father when he died, i think he made everything very difficult for her and she was in hiding for a while and then got together with my stepfather and they married in may 1981 which now i think about it would sound right as they couldn't marry until he consented to divorce or after he died. i just don't know where to start now as my mum died suddenly last week, she was 17yrs younger than my dad. i know finding his mother and her relatives will be near impossible but i would like to find and have some sort of contact with my half brothers. in the future.

The cert might also offer a clue in the person registering the death.

I can only see one birth with the details you give:

Name: Peter Mason
Mother's Maiden Surname: Mason
Date of Registration: Jul Aug Sep 1933
Registration district: Preston
Registration county: Lancashire
Volume Number: 8e
Page Number: 538

Looks as if this Peter's mother was unmarried, which would fit with the adoption.

Peter Davies is such a common name it would be difficult to find the marriage details and you would need these marriage details to find details of the children. Did your father die while he was married to your Mum - if he died while married to his second wife a copy of his death certificate would give an address for him at the time of his death and the local newspaper in that area may have an article on his death which may give you some clues. Good luck Irene

doing this search through friends account. my father born Peter mason 15/7/1933 in preston. adopted by robert davies and his wife from freckleton nr preston soon after birth. however were unsure if the adoption was with an agency in those days and if so how would i be able to find out? dropped his birth name mason for adopted name davies. spent 12yrs in navy, 12yrs in raf as a fireman also drove HGV and worked on Riggs. had been previously married and had at least 2 but possibly 3 children. commited suicide on 9th march 1981 in lincoln. death register shows davies as surname, i was named davies as was my sister and my mother while married. if i'm trying to find info on his other children and also his mother how would i go about it, where do i start looking?
