What is a bill inspector...?

Yes, the new Ancestry London records are a goldmine!
Have found one marriage cert where the groom is a bill inspector. Does anyone know what this is? Have googled it but no luck. The bride is stated as a music hall artist so could it be something to do with bill posting? Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Given the bride's occupation, it's probably a theatre ticket inspector. However, it could equally apply to trains, buses, trams, etc.

Yes Rose, could be either. Will keep trying, thanks.
