When you fill in the form online there is a question "Is the GRO Reference Known?" This is always set on "no" and you need to tick the "yes" box otherwise they will ask for full details of the date.

If you don't have the full reference (which includes the details you already have plus the volume number and page number) then give us the names and someone will find the full GRO reference for you.

Hello Barbara

Are you ordering online? You should be able to order with the volume and page number that you have, giving only the Quarter (June in this case). I have never given the actual date as I never know it!

Local Register Offices are a different kettle of fish. Ours want so much information it's not worth getting the certificate as they want to know which church they married in!

Are they asking because you have not put the volume number and page number on your request. You must enter this on your request - are you ordering online. Irene

I am trying to get my parent's marriage certificate but GRO are asking for the date in dd/mm/yy format all I know is that the marriage took place during the quarter of Apr/May/June 1932. Where else can I look for the actual date?
