Trev. JOHN H RUSHMER is not a name i've seen before, but certainly the GEORGE R RUSHMER you found is my ggfather - the age 72 agrees with a birth of 2nd Mar. 1871 having died in (June q) 1943 (i have his birth cert). I think you also found Sarah (neƩ CODLING). I had found her in BMD 1873 march. q so yes we concur..I had not expected the old girl to live so long bless her, so i had not looked as far as 1972! She was over 99! I see the d.o.b is given in these 70s records - very useful. Thanks for excellent help. Paul

Trevor - pretty sure that his him - thanks! I was using FreeBMD to search the index but I don't think it's complete yet, because it doesn't find him. I'm still looking for SARAH RUSHMER b: 1873 did a trawl of all BMDs no match.
Von: thanks for 1911 census info, JOHN WILLIAM was my paternal grandfather, i knew him well. I didn't know his siblings so something more to research. It looks like his parents (GEORGE & SARAH RUSHMER) were the first generation of Rushmer's to leave Norfolk & raise a family in Cumbria. I'd love to know why! Regards to all

I would appreciate some idea finding the death record for my gg-parents. I have been getting on quite well till now. I have received the marriage cert. of my gg-parents 25 DEC 1890 (yes xmas day!) names GEORGE RICHARD RUSHMER and SARAH CODLING. I have found the births in BMD 1871 & 1873 respectively - seem correct for age & expected location & with relatively unusual surnames it helps. However no trace of a death for either in BMD - I'm guessing around 1940 - 50 but have searched from all years after marriage without a match. Any ideas? Thanks Paul
