Hi Folks,

Just a reminder to some.......... I have just come across a lady looking for info on her father, he left when she was young.

His death registration was added to the thread, he died in 2003.

Obviously the lady has replied saying something on the lines of " how sad I should find him after his death"......... if this were me I think I would be gutted, so please, please tread with more sensitivity.

I know we are normally VERY good at not adding to threads with recent events and tend to PM them.......... so this is just a gentle reminder.

Time for my bed, night folks.

It sounds like the sort of thing I would do in haste.
Perhaps a little note to the author ?

Although all records are in the public domain and most of the people we look for are dead ?

Hi Denise,

Don't be too hard on the person who helped. This thread was a lookup for someone born in 1919 and the request was to "find out more about him and his family".

The helper probably assumed the author wasn't expecting him to be alive. She traced his death first and this lead her to find his birth, siblings and parents. That's a logical train of thought.

Hi Lindsey and Rose,

Sorry if I came across alittle harsh on the author, didn't mean to..... I suppose I put myself in the ladies shoes and felt for her.

I guess the lady may have considered that her father had passed on, still news that would shake you to your socks though, so it was just a gentle reminder to others that possibly a PM would have been better rather than just posting it on her thread.
