Can anyone please tell me how I can access South African birth records for 1923 in the Durban/Johannesburg region?

Actually, the SA consulate site isn't going to give directions to SA birth records. ;)

To my knowledge, there is no on-line access to such records.

(If SA is like Canada, Australia and other such places, there is no access to such records at all for 100 years or so, under privacy legislation, except for the person in question or their direct descendants, if they are deceased.)

I agree about googling, of course. I searched for

"south africa" bmd
