could you tell me if i can go into school records from 1901 till1911.this person was a catholic. She was left with no parents from about the age of 9yr. South Shields

hi alan
my da emailed a school that his brothers and sister went to in the 1920's and they were very helpful providing him with the date they registered, who registered them the day they stared and the day they left and also the address they lived at

Alan I think it is pot luck here.

Not all school records were preserved. Some were passed on to local authorities, but many were not and are lost. Even if schools have them, they are often not filed efficiently or electronically and you are therefore reliant on over-worked school secretaries whose job is nothing to do with family history, to help you out.
