If you are not already using it then Freebmd is a great resource as the results come up under the register page numbers, so e.g. for marriages you normally only have two parties to compare to the censuses to see if they match instead of dozens, similarly for births after 1912 the mother's maiden name is there.

Tony, read the Tips for New members for basic research information. The information found could have been found by you just by buying your fathers birth cert and then looking for the marriage of the grandparents on freebmd and buying that cert and so on backwards using certs and census information.

am blown away by the speed of the information yo have found in such a short time .its taken me over 20 years to draw a blank . you did it in seconds .
i now need to trace both robert and maud back wards , can you give me any tips that would assist me

wow . i always thought he moved to romford area later but his name is reginald charles watson .. . i was born in romford too

my father was born in the hackney area of london 14th feb 1930 .

most of my family are past so information is scarce

i am new to this site and am struggling to find my fathers parents .

robert george watson and his wife mauld . they lived in london in the hackney area . they had four sons , george william ronald and reginald (my father) there was talk of a daughter but was never confirmed his bith certificate dated 1965 says he was 69 years old so was born around 1896 ish . his wife maulds maiden name is unknown to me ..

have looked at pages and pages of names but am getting nowhere .
any help would be very welcome .
