Raymond,

What information you are seeking is not possible as any adoption information is strictly confidential.

Ray the only way you might find him is if he is looking too, either for his parent or another family member that he knows of. Im in the same situation but ive traced family members of mine and by chance my half sister was looking for the same, she was also adopted after birth, so im just waiting for her to be contacted by a family member i found. Unfortunately if they are not looking too i cant see any way of tracing them as there names are changed normally to the adoptivs family name and you cant access that info. Im still looking for another brother and another sister with no luck. Hope it helps and good luck.

Hi Ray,

First things first ? are you sure he was adopted ? how old would be be now ? and what area did the adoption take place ?

Gavin

Gavin Report 7 Oct 2009 23:27

Ray dont be worried about asking. If your not sure there is some real expert people on here that i dont even have the imagination to find how they get the answers so quickly.

Im still looking into my sister and other siblings/half siblings its a time consuming process and can feel very frustrating at times.........trust me ive spent so many hours in front of my p.c its unreal. And ive got fairly close in only 1 week of searching and all i started with was my mothers name, an address from 40yrs ago that is now flats and my birth name!!!!

So far ive made contact with an aunty an uncle a great uncle and have built quite a family tree up in such a short time. So dont get disheartened, i see it as a big jigsaw puzzle, with a few bits hidden that if you look in the right direction you can actually find them.

And heres the biggest bit of advice......you may not like everything you hear along the way, so just be open minded in your search . It may not all be nice. And i mean that with total sincerity . But as i said AsK, someone will advise and point you in the right direction
Good Luck

Hi Gavin,

Are the brother and sister you mention both adopted ? a few tips for you then, I take it you have done a name search on here to see if they are in anyones tree, have you checked if anyone else has your BM's details on here.

If you have no luck with this, put both names in your tree, that way if they join and do a name search they will get a hot match.
Have you posted messages on any of the adoption sites yet ?

Also do you know the area the adoption took place ?

Sheila ive done all the searches on here and put them on my tree so if they are looking then they can see my match. One sister has been looking and i believe she is on here but ive got no response from her yet and the mail envelope hasnt been openned so im assuming she maybe has changed e-mail address or something along those lines.

But the uncle that i traced through here has had contact with her in the past, but she has since moved . But he knows where she moved too but not the address, but is going to go and see her to give my details too her for me. As for my mother, well i wont go into that in public but lets just say, i wont be looking any further than i have now.
I had my eyes wide open when i started so its not really going to bother me. But if i get contact with one of my sisters or my brother then fair play.
Thanks for the advice though i do apprecciate it, i'll still look for siblings and keep updating my tree as i find out more so it makes it easier for them to start looking, if they start looking lol
Thanks Gavin

Have you located the whereabouts of his Adoption Records yet? Try the Social Services Dept for the area where he was born. You can then leave a letter for him on his file which he will be given if / when he looks for his birth family
Good luck
