Which site are you using for searching the census? The search facility on this site is not very good.

Do you have your grandparents' birth or marriage certs? Their birth certs will give both parents' names; the marriage certs their fathers' names.

You can search on the census on some using their name together with their parent(s)' names.

If you don't have access to another site, post all the details you have and I am sure somebody will do lookups for you.

Providing your grandparents siblings were born after 1911, it is possible to search for them on Ancestry by typig in only their surnames and the mothers maiden surname in the appropriate boxes.

A list will then appear of all children born to parents with the surname criteria you have entered. The only problem you may experience with this is if the surname is a popular one like Smith or Archer etc. In these cases the location of birth can help narrow down the field.

If you are uncertain of the maiden surname of your grandparents mothers, Locate your grandparents births in the birth index and provided the birth was after 1911 the mothers maiden surname will also appear on the list.

you can search census for the uk from 1841 to 1911 you will have to pay a subscription to ancestry or find my past , the 1911 census is pay per view

ancestry do a 14 day free trial they have lots of info ie births marriages deaths and census some ww1 records etc

start with your parents birth or marriage certs and work back

if children where born after 1911 it will list the mothers maiden name which is easier to identify the right child.

if you get really stuck put a help request up and someone will help you
