I have traced one line of my ancestors back to C1813 in Woolwich Kent. It is unlikely that I will ever be able to visit this palce and wondered what other options I have in tracing my tree further?

Hi Kathryn,

You could see if you can find a CD of the area you are looking.
Try Parish Chest or just google CD's for parish registers in
Woolwich, Kent.

I was able to find a CD of Parish Registers in Lambeth 1770-1796
from the East Surrey History Society, maybe you could find something from the Family History Society for Kent. Not all areas are on CD much to my disappointment but it may be worth trying.

Good Luck

Some (if not all) of Woolwich is covered on the Ancestry parish records so they would be worth checking.

Kathryn

When you are at the stage of not being able to find anything online, then the only option is to leg it to the records office and look at original records. Some are being put online but by all means not all, in fact not many.

So maybe you will find a kind member on here who is prepaed to go to Woolwich and look for you, or you might be able to pay for a search via the local records office, or finally, visit yourself.

Thank you to everyone for your advice. I'm still a novice at this! I've been tracing my family on and off for some years, but I must admit it's mainly been off as I just don't seem to have enough time to get 'stuck in'. Anyway, thanks again, your comments are much appreciated.
