Hi THANK YOU all for helping!! I am so sorry, I haven't been able to sign back on to GR for ages, I have this problem with the sign in page, it keeps coming back and not letting me access anything.
Finally got on so..

I was trying to find out about Elizabeth's first marriage because I was told she was the first wife of Joseph Colledge. I didn't have her maiden name but was told she was previously married to a Thomas Evans. I found her marriage to Joseph but not to anyone named Evans (since I didn't have her maiden name)

ROSE you do seem to have found her with her family on the 1861 and I think that it must have been Adam Evans not Thomas. I looked it upand found the death of an Adam Evans in 1870 in West Ham She married Joseph Colledge in 1871.

It would seem AUNTY SHERLOCK that this is her and Matthew then on the 1881. There is quite a story behind these people. I think Joseph must have left them as he is with another person on the 1881, although she is not his wife. Then on the 1891 he claims this other woman as his wife, but it looks as if Elizabeth is still living with Matthew but now going back to Evans.

Could they have divorced? Joseph married the other woman in 1903.

I will have to do some more checking now I have better facts, but I am too tired tonight.

Hi again Just FYI I looked up the marriage of Adam Evans to Elizabeth and from the two Elizabeths for the date on BMD I found the right one on the IGI Elizabeth Harding. So now I have her maiden name as well.
