Granddaughter of George Walker on 1881 census. Who is she? I can't find her birth and she is obviously a great aunt as Edward Thompson Walker is grandad! Can I only find her parentage by getting the birth cert?
thanks for any help, Jill

That's an interesting thought, Glitterbaby.
I am hoping to find if she was another daughter of Sarah Jane Walker (later Sarah Jane Dougall) born out of wedlock - as was Edward Thompson Walker. Or could she possibly be the daughter of the Catherine Waites (formerly Walker) who was also in the house on that 1881 census? What do you think? How can I find out?

There is strong evidence of the parentage of Edward Thompson Walker as a certain Benjamin Thompson lived nearby. I wonder if there was a Mr Large in the offing for Fanny?

I've been puzzling over Fanny Large Walker...
Why should she be registered as :
Fanny Large, W.Derby 8b 456 in 1875 (2)
and not: Fanny Walker W.Derby 8b 272 1877
or W.Derby 8b 589 1877
How do you decide which she was and what do you ask when you send for the cert when you don't know mother or father????
Help me please,
Jill
