	What is fascinating is the rich variety of trades: mostly small one or two man businesses. Compare that to today's high streets where there are two or three suoermarkets, a few clothes shops, a couple of estate agents and a couple of fast food outlets. Somewhere in the intervening period we have manage to kill off and stifle the opportunity for people to be their own masters.
