World War I Records of Men unfit to serve

I hadn't realized that they had reserved occupations in the first war. I know they did in the second because may dad was in a reserved occupation.
Also thanks for the info on the destruction of records I knew that some had been lost but had no idea that it was so extensive.Presumably some volunteers would fail the medical and be rejected and might need at some point to prove that they were unfit to serve so some record would have been kept, though it may subsequently have been destroyed?

Was he possibly in a reserved occupation?

I was talking with a friend about the fact that I had been unable to find any reference to my grandfather serving in the war. To which he replied what if he was unfit to serve? I had never considered this and am now wondering if there was any register of such men kept and if there is,is it possible to access them.
