James Cadby, one of 225 convicts transported on the Stag, 02 February 1855.

http://www.slq.qld.gov.au/info/fh/convicts

Details: Sentence details:
Convicted at Wilts. Assizes New Sarum for a term of 15 years. Public Works.
Vessel: Stag.
Date of Departure: 02 February 1855.
Place of Arrival: Western Australia.
Source: Microfilm Roll 93, Class and Piece Number HO11/18, Page Number 115 (59)

"Fremantle" was Western Australia's main Convict Prison

Most Australian records( eg: BDM's ) are indexed State by State. If your James stayed in Western Australia ?....then this would be a good starting point to check for any marriage/s, or death. He may also have been moved to Tasmania and or Sydney ( N.S.W )
"Some" convicts were sent to certain prisons, but also many were moved to other states throughout Australia in work gangs

Western Australia BDM's are on-line.

Go to Births, Deaths and Marriages ( Bottom of screen )

Then see: Family history ( Top left ) and follow the prompts.

There is one death recorded in W.A....for a James CADBY

CADBY JAMES age: 54 Fath: UNKNOWN Moth: UNKNOWN place of Birth :UNKNOWN Reg No: 6304 Year: 1872

Hi there ,thanks alot for asking!
James Cadby b. 1811 was transported to Australia on the" Stag" in 1855. I had wanted to check Aussie records out to find what happened to him, is that possible? I really can`t think why I can`t access your aussies records??

Hi Snowfairy.

I live in Australia, and can access GR from either Australia GR, New Zealand GR, South Africa GR, Canada GR, U.K GR..... or GR International.

The site looks the same to me ( apart from a few adverts perhaps ) from any country i log on from.

Logging onto the "Australian GR " dosent necessarily give you access to Australian records...or at least none that i know of.

Cant understand why you cant access this site from any of the above locations.

If your looking for Australian help re your Ancestors that came here, either post a thread with what information you are seeking on "Records Office" or the "Trying to Find" Board and someone will help you. There are many of us Aussies on the boards.

Having found out recently that two of my relations were transported to Australia-1839 and 1855 .I thought I would click on the "Australian Genes Reunited" at the bottom of this page and see if I could check on what perhaps became of them. I put in my password and mail address as I would here and it didn`t work.My question is:Can I get onto the Site for free or must I pay for this service? Thanks very much for your help.
