Can't open saved 1911 from FMP SORTED THANKS

When I opened it with Firefox it opened automatically as JPG. I didn't have to do anything to it.

I thought it would open straight away by double clicking the saved file name but going down the Firefox route isn't a problem

OK - seems like panic over.

Woah.....!

You can't just change a djvu file extension to .jpg - this won't work and you risk loosing your images altogether.

If you double click on the djvu file, you may already have a program installed which will open it. The usual way is to have a plug-in in your browser.

It is usually available through sites who use this format or alternatively from here

Thank you SRat, Helen and Mummy Bear

I can now open it with Firefox (thanks Helen) and it is then a JPG file.

Phew ...thought for a minute I was going to be SOOOOOOOOO disappointed with the 1911 census

Wendy

You need to ensure that the file extension is .JPG
Find the file on the PC using explorer
Click on the file name
right click & select rename
at the end of the file name type [full stop, letter J, letter P, letter g)
.jpg
and press enter
the file type should change to JPEG Image
this should then allow you to double click and it should just open

I hope you follow this - if not perhaps some else may have a simpler way of doing this

I've just checked the ones I saved to file and they open fine.

They are LizardTech DjVu Files, and when I find them in Windows Explorer and double click on them they open.

It looks like the program that is opening them is the LizardTech DjVu Viewer, assume this is the same viewer needed to open the files on the FMP site, so presumably you should have it?

Someone more techie than me might be able to tell you how to check or how to download if you don't have it.

After reading on all the threads re the FMP 1911 subscription and its good and bad points I have paid for 6 months.

I have saved to my file and printed from the FMP screen but I can't open the saved copy. I have tried all the 'open with' options and looked to see if I can change the 'save as' file type but all without success.

Can anyone help me please

Wendy
