No it doesn't look like Olive, there is a tail on the v. And I can't find her in 1871 to check.

Well it certainly doesn't look like Olive to me. However 1871 says it is.

Have you thought about looking on another census or on FreeBMD for a birth?

If this is the Beeching family, it's an mistranscription not an abbreviation. The name is Olive.

Can anyone tell me what the female first name Ohep is abbreviated from in the old form. My best guess is Ophelia.
