Is the Ancestry LMA database complete?

If they died after about 1850, when council owned Cemeteries started to be opened, they might not have had a church funeral, hence no PR.

Edit – there could be other reasons why PR aren’t available ….they haven’t survived!

The records of 2 parishes I’m interested in (not London) are incomplete. One set was damaged in a fire in 1873 and transcribed as best as he could by the then vicar, the other set were stolen in 1948, although a partial transcription had been made earlier.

Don’t rule out the effect of damp/rodents etc + War bomb damage. TBH, the ones I’ve seen on Ancestry seem to be very clear, as if they have cherry picked the ones they want to upload.

How does it apply to burials then, as even if they couldn't afford to be baptised surely they should appear in the burials, even if it was only in a pauper's grave?! I've seen plenty of burials where the deceased was from the workhouse.

Mine don't seem to have died either!! LOL

That's good to know RobG, Thanks.

I guess they've been dead for so long a little longer waiting for me to find them won't matter! LOL!

Yes, there are still great big holes in what is there!!
As well as those records that fall outside the remit of this collection (as have been previously described), the ones that are there are very patchy. There are churches on there that have large gaps in the years covered and also there are churches within those boroughs included, that are missing whilst adjacent parishes are there. And, yes, many of these do exist at the LMA. I know because I've seen them there!! I think it's a work in progress. The same applies to the LMA workhouse records.
As always with Ancestry, patience is the word :-(

Thanks. I guess I'm just unlucky that mine lived in the poorest parts of the City and East End then!
It just seems odd that some children in the family were baptised, but not others, even if they had to do a 'catch up' session all in one go later!

I think the ones I'm missing most were from the St Giles area. Which borough would that come under? Camden?

Does anyone know if the earlier baptisms/burials will become name searchable eventually? Mine moved about in London so much it's almost impossible to pick a parish to start in!!

There are a couple of areas that are not on Ancestry so not all have been done,as I have the scanned image from registers but Ancestry shows no sign.

Mostly Ancestry records are C/E so if another denomination then they may possibly not be on there..R/C are not.

It's just that I expected to find a lot of mine and haven't, so I was wondering if they've just put some up to begin with and will be adding more later.
Certainly the list of boroughs in the searchable ones seems very patchy!

Also, does anyone know if they are planning on making the B/M/Bs (1538-1812) name searchable or should I start trawling through all the City registers now?!!

Thanks
