I have 19 of the 20 children born to Henry Nathaniel Moffett and Patience Nicholls. All born in Greenwich.

Nancy 1907
Henry 1908
Olive 1909
James 1911 d. 1912
William 1912
Priscilla 1914
Phoebe 1916
Patience 1917
Ellen 1918
Cecilia 1920 d. 1921
Emily 1921 d. 1921
Reuben 1922
Albert 1923 d. 1925
Rose 1925
Peggy 1927
Violet 1928
Bertha 1930
Joan 1931
Stephen 1932 d. 1932

According to the 1911 census they hadn't lost any children by that date.

I thought I had found a Leonard but he doesn't appear to have the right mother!

Can anyone spare the time to look for number 20 please?

Thanks

Sue

Edit: I know Leonard has the mother's name as Moffett and this may be an error.

did the number of children born of the marriage tie up with those listed on the 1911 census
I found that one child of my grt grandparents missed the1901 census but were on the 1911 census . he was born in 1895 and was with an aunt and uncle on the 1901 census so i wasnt aware of him

Hi Shirley, yes they have tied up. I know I have asked for help on this before and I will have to order possible birth certs (but not until OH's next pay day).

I would like to narrow the possibilities down as small as possible taking advice from you all.

Thanks

Sue

is this the one you found that may be another child?
Name: Leonard H Moffatt
Mother's Maiden Surname: Moffatt
Date of Registration: Apr May Jun 1917
Registration district: Greenwich
Registration county: Greater London
Volume Number: 1d
Page Number: 1535

cant see this would be right timewise because patience was born the same year

Name: Patience Moffett
Mother's Maiden Surname: Nicholls
Date of Registration: Oct Nov Dec 1917
Registration district: Greenwich
Registration county: Greater London
Volume Number: 1d
Page Number: 1228

I suppose Leonard could have been born late Feb/early Mar reg April ,and Patience end Dec for it just to fit in ??
You have picked up all the others listed so this looks to be the only possibity if there were 20 children

How do you know there were 20 children? Is it possible that they had a stillborn child? If this was the case you wouldn't find the stillbirth in the normal birth register.

Yes, Shirley that's why I dscounted him!

Hi Kath, definitely 20 children there was never any mention that one was a stillbirth. It's driving me mad :-(
