Gypsy Name Packs: Liverpool University sell family history packs covering certain
surnames. The smaller packs (£10 plus £1.50 p&p) cover the family names Ayres (and
variants), Baker, Birch (Burch), Booth, Buckley, Burton, Doe, Draper, Elliott (and variants),
Evans (and variants), Gaskin (and variants), Gray (Grey), Gregory and Stephens, Holland,
Lock(e), Loveridge, Mace, Parker, Penfold (Pinfold), Price, Scamp, Scarrett (and variants),
Small, Taylor, Wharton (and variants) and Young. Larger (£15 plus £2 p&p) cover Cooper,
Buckland, Lovel(l), Hearn (and variants) and Lee. University of Liverpool, PO Box 123,

Baptism registers: Many Romany parents were encouraged to have their children baptized
at the local church during the fruit-picking season.
History collections: The Gypsy Lore Society records are kept at Liverpool University; the
Robert Dawson Romany Collection at the Museum of English Rural Life, Reading; the Romany
Collection at Brotherton Library, Leeds and the National Fairground Archive, Sheffield. Other
collections are at Aberystwyth University, and the Gordon Boswell Romany Museum.
