Hi Sheila, birth cert would be a good idea. Maybe the Parents married at a later date. My G Grandparents married 7 years after their first child was born !. Also found this on the 1911 Census !.

I had a idea her mum was a lady called elizabeth but I may send for the certificate see if it names her dad .
with the information supplied by yourself and the other good folk I have accessed the 1881 and noted a elizabeth with the bannister family and just under her is one edward gallagher also a boarder....mmmm! perhaps her parents ? maybe Elizabeth was not married after all.
But I remember Cilla talking of her (real ) dad so she must have known him and was fond of him.
I wish i could find information as well and as fast as yourself and the other smart folk.

This maybe Alice who married Daniel Bannister. Irene

Daniel Bannister married Alice Smith at Burnley 1858 so perhaps her sister gave birth to Pricilla out of wedlock. Irene

If you look at the actual image for 1891 for Pricilla it could read age 6 and not 1 as given in the census details. Irene

Pricilla smith born 1885 burnley lancashire and possible not living with her own family there as she was not fully brought up by her parents.
