MayBlossomEmpressofSpring Report 27 Oct 2009 21:42

I have bought a month's subs to a site giving N.Ireland ancestery info, thanks to a person posting on this site, but can't get back further than 1850. Can anyone tell me, please what years were lost in the first "troubles".

By 'years lost' do you mean census records?

As I understand it, only the 1901 and 1911 census of Ireland survive.

What is the site please as my husband's great grandad is an 'Ulsterman', although in Liverpool or Cheshire in the late 1800s?
thanks
Jill

Yes, Birdsinanest, I do mean census records, together with BMD records.

Jillian, the site I went on is Emerald Ancestors and cost £9.99 for a month.

Sorry late in getting back to you, we had a funeral yesterday and only got back home tonight.

Only just caught you, May, thanks for replying anyway. I haven't yet started on that branch, but it is looming large. Funerals are always a 'mind stirrer' - hope all is well with you
thanks
Jill
