Gigi,Von and Shirley. Thank you all for your help. GG Uncle Peter moved to Monpellier with his sister Mary who kept house for him.My Grandmother lost touch with them and when she tried to find information in 1969 she had no joy at all.I will try all that you have suggested.

His death may have been registered at the British Consulate, you could try Consular records on Find My Past

Hi,

You would need to know where he died in order to apply for his "acte de dece" from the local Mairie (town hall). In France there is a strict 100 year rule so you have to prove your relationship with your gg uncle in order to obtain his death cert.
