I'm looking for the records of a man who was a soldier at the time of his marriage in the 1920s and I am next of kin.

First War or Second?

First War records are free (if they survive). Ancestry has them; surnames up to N and a few others that have been filed out of alphabetical order.

Second War: can only be applied for by the person concerned or next of kin. They cost £30

Do you mean WW2?

Then about £30 and you need to be next of kin
